Case Study: How a 10-Day Digital Photo Booth Installation Elevated Corporate Parties During Calgary Stampede

The Calgary Stampede transforms the city for 10 days every July. Venues shift into high gear. Corporate bookings fill calendars. When a popular Stephen Avenue venue approached us with the challenge of designing an experience for their corporate clients, we were all-in. We needed to provide a self-served photo booth with brand consistency but tailor the experience to some of Calgary’s most notable Corporate brands for private parties.

This was the perfect fit for a 10 day digital photo booth installation. Here’s why ….

The challenge: To offer a seamless, branded activation designed to operate throughout Stampede AND be flexible enough to allow for custom branding for corporate parties.

The solution? A Digital Photo Booth installation that acted as an add-on for corporate parties. This was an easy upsell for the venue and added value to their corporate clients. It meant they didn’t have to source an additional vendor for their party.

The Goal: Consistency Across 10 Days of Events

The Calgary Stampede is a city-wide festival with layered programming and diverse audiences. We needed to design an activation that would:

  • Deliver fun, high-quality entertainment for guests

  • Reflect the spirit of Stampede

  • Function reliably across multiple event formats

  • Require minimal operational oversight from venue staff

The booth had to work just as well for a corporate client hosting a private Stampede party as it did for a large open house or networking mixer.

A 10-day activation presents different considerations than a single-evening booking.

Solution#1: A Digital Photo Booth Install

Flash Co. installed a high-quality Digital Photo Booth at the venue for the full duration of Stampede.

Because the booth remained installed, each event automatically included an option for a built-in experiential element, all without additional setup or vendor coordination.

  • Daily check-ins to ensure equipment performance

Challenge #2: Custom Branding

The venue needed their Stampede Buckaroos branding present throughout the 10 day festival AND needed flexibility to add corporate branding on photos when booked for private events.

The solution needed to:

  • Have venue branding visible throughout the ten-day digital photo booth installation

  • Have the flexibility to add corporate branding when booked for a private event

  • Be able to customize branding remotely as needed

Solution#2: Bukaroos Branded Vinyl Wrap & Custom Digital Overlays

The below solutions allowed us to brand the photo booth itself with venue branding and have the option to custom brand the photos for private corporate parties. Here’s how we did it:

Branded Vinyl Wrap

The photo booth was vinyl wrapped with the venue’s Stampede branding for the duration of install. This promoted brand recognition for the venue throughout the entire install and left room to customize photo branding for private parties as they were booked.

Branded Photos & Digital Overlays

For every private corporate event, Flash Co. incorporated the company’s branding on the photos. Flash Co. was able to program the booth to feature custom branding for specific events throughout the festival without having to re-set the booth on-site. All of this was done remotely, creating a seamless digital experience for the venue and its clients on-site.

Results

Photo sessions: 3,648

Digital shares: 5,123 digital shares

Share rate: 1.4 per session
Every session produced a branded digital deliverable sent directly to the guest's phone via text message

Overarching Win: The venue generated incremental revenue across its full Stampede run from a single installation that its team did not have to manage.

Why the 10-Day Digital Photo Booth Install Worked

The model matched the venue's operational reality. The venue runs a demanding 10-day Stampede programme. A solution that required daily Flash Co. staffing would have been logistically more difficult. Remote management made a long-form installation viable.

Flexible branding turned one booth into multiple activations. Each corporate client received a personalized deliverable without any additional setup. That flexibility is what made the digital photo booth a genuine upsell rather than a shared amenity.

SMS delivery removed friction at the point of engagement. Guests received their photo strip directly on their phones. There was nothing to pick up, nothing to wait for, and no process for venue staff to facilitate.

It Drove Venue Sales. A fixed cost spread across a ten-day festival changes the economics. From the venue's perspective, the booth was installed once and activated multiple times. The incremental cost of each add-on sale was minimal. The margin improved with every corporate client who opted in.
